Berryz at Nippon Budokan

Thanks to all my friends in Japan for hanging and helping me out for this trip. Wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to get a good seat for this, but in the end, I got a great seat. Front row, directly to the right of the catwalk. I was a little bit worried, because the seat was a slightly behind the second stage (or whatever you call it), but that turned out to be just fine. For the most part, whoever was at the end would turn towards my side of the stage and so it wasn’t like I was looking at a bunch of backs, though I wouldn’t complain about that view, lol. Not really implying anything there, heh.

Got my usual acknowledgments from each of Berryz. Chinami right off the bat, the rest throughout the show; Momochi, Captain and Maasa more so than the others. When C-ute showed up, Mai and Chisato were definitely surprised to see me there. A few of the Eggs I recognized and they recognized me from previous concerts I’m sure. On the topic of the Eggs (I’ll continue to call them that, even though I know they’re not anymore), there was one that stood out tremendously. She was so energetic, and I don’t mean like, happy and geniki, I mean she was going all out during those dances, and really interacting with the crowd and her face was just so expressive. She happened to be right in front of me during her energetic performance, and she definitely stood out. I have no idea who she was, but hopefully I’ll be able to pick her out from the DVD or if other videos pop up somewhere.

A couple of highlights from the concert. They performed Rival (with C-ute), my favorite song, so that was great. Another song they performed, again with C-ute, is one that I’ve heard before but hadn’t known its significance with respect to the Kids; a friend told me about it after the show. The song, Ganbacchae, was the very first song Berryz and C-ute recorded after being accepted into H!P back in 2004. Very nice and sentimental for both Berryz/C-ute and their fans. The girls getting emotional, man does that pull in my heart strings. Love these girls.

Overall, it was a great concert. I’m so happy for the girls to be able to perform at Budokan and I’m so happy to have been able to share in that experience with them. So, that was day one of three with Berryz; an excellent kickoff if I do say so.

Man, I just read through all your stuff last night and then this article now and I have to ask, what do you do for a living? You must be making some kind of mad cash to be able to go to all these events and stuff on a regular basis.

HI, I'm a software developer with no family to support, combined with the fact that this is pretty much my only hobby (travel, music). I wouldn't say that ~three times a year is considered going going on a regular basis, but I understand what you're saying. I just graduated college this year if that means anything, so I was in school (in Kentucky) and have not been able to travel as much as I perhaps would have otherwise.
